Kate and Ty in Goulburn for their wedding
Kate + Ty

30th of November 2019

The wedding of Kate and Ty was held on Kate’s family farm in Goulburn, NSW on 30 November 2019. After months of skype planning and styling meetings with the couple, who were often situated on their rooftop terrace in New York City, the time finally came for them to fly home and for us to meet in person! With some slight delays due to high winds, a small tiger snake incident and a few too many ‘nice to meet you finally’ wines, we were finally full steam ahead.

If there was one word to describe this wedding it would be ‘family!’. The love and support between these two families was incredible! Every single family member pitched in and helped make Kate and Ty’s dream wedding come to life. Some were in the garden (for months due to the drought) while others assembled all the wedding florals, made the wedding cake and even painted the childhood cubby house.

My favourite moments as the planner…..

The First Lunch – Due to Kate and Ty living in America I often met with Tina and Guy (Kate’s parents) and I have never felt more welcome in a client’s home!

Styling Detail – Kate’s grandmother hand sketched a native drawing that we incorporated into all of the wedding stationary. A simple blue bird that brought so much meaning and sentimental value.

The First Look – I will never forget Ty’s face when he saw Kate for the first time! It was pure joy! For those wondering if the first look took away from the moment he saw her walking down the aisle an hour later…. NO! His face was almost exactly the same… he clearly had the same overwhelming excited feelings TWICE!

The Marquee Entrance – As I said above, the family love was obvious to me all the way throughout planning this wedding but the moment they all broke out on the dancefloor prior to dinner being served really reiterated it! What a fun bunch… I can only imagine what Christmas is like each year!

Ty’s Speech – Without giving away too much, the groom took to tradition and surprised absolutely everyone by burying their favorite drop of wine, exactly one year prior, under an old tree on the property. The thought is that it is meant to bring good weather on your wedding day (can’t say that it was that successful, but the thought was great).

I made many new lifelong friends that week; the wonderful couple, their brilliant families and a few new industry buds. A special thanks to Janine from Harvest Catering for feeding us all week and being an absolute superstar to work with. Lastly to Heart and the Sea for capturing the magic so perfectly and being so chilled on the day!
